Ideas Needed for Bike / Pedestrian Meeting in Hillsboro

Posted by Peter W on August 6, 2007

Do you have ideas for what Hillsboro needs in order to be more bike friendly? I’d like to hear them!

If you live in the area maybe you know first hand about the barriers that keep other people from riding. If you live in Portland (or Davis, or Boulder, or …) maybe you can think of something that makes your city a great place for riding that could be copied in Hillsboro. If you live in Hillsboro and would be interested in working on helping the city promote biking or walking (or know someone who does) I’d really love to hear from you!

A while ago I saw that the Hillsboro’s planning department apparently had a bike and pedestrian program, but I don’t know what happened to it. I emailed the city to find out and they scheduled a meeting with me on Wednesday to talk about the program.

I’d like to find out what happened to their bike/ped program and bring your ideas for improvements, and let the city know that this is important to people who live here.

I would enjoy riding more if there were more bike/ped paths. The Fanno Creek trail is amazing and I would love to see something like that out in Hillsboro.

What Hillsboro needs are more people cycling instead of making excuses why they can’t.
Government cannot make people more friendly about anything.
Folks simply need to be as friendly as they want everyone else to be.
